According to The National Museum for Women in the Arts, in Washington D.C.:
51% of today's visual artists are women
Currently, about 25% of solo exhibitions at major museums are of women artists.
Only about 5% of the art currently on permanent display in American museums is by women artists.
Since its inception in 1990, American Women Artists has worked diligently to bring women artists to the attention of the art world through five museum shows, 17 juried and member shows in leading galleries around the country, one festival for women in the arts with simultaneous exhibits and events in 40 galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico and an international exchange and exhibit with Sorrento, Italy.

AWA serves women artists throughout the United States along with a growing contingent of artists from Canada. AWA is an independent, tax-exempt nonprofit organization that celebrated its inaugural exhibit in 1990 at the Tucson Museum of Art and incorporated as a 501c3 in the state of New Mexico in 1998.
Your donation dollars will be put to work directly serving women artists in the form of scholarships and education, mounting exhibitions in nationally-recognized galleries or museums and strengthening our organization for years to come.

The Patron level of membership begins at $60 per year.
